On 23 October 2025, the four ERA Chair holders based at Bulgarian research organisations held their first joint meeting to identify common research interests and discuss opportunities for future cooperation.
The meeting brought together Prof. Christian Imdorf – ERA Chair at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPS-BAS); Dr. Vassil Kirov – Project Coordinator of ProSkills2Work (IPS-BAS); Prof. Petar Mandaliev and Dimitrina Shindova, LL.M., from the ELEMENT ERA Chair project at the Centre for Cleantech and Biomass Resource Efficiency, Agricultural University of Plovdiv; Prof. Stefan Dimitrov and Prof. Anastas Gospodinov from the AEGIS-IMB ERA Chair project at the Roumen Tsanev Institute of Molecular Biology – BAS; and Prof. Dimiter Prodanov, Director of the Laboratory of Neurotechnology and VIBraTE ERA Chair at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies – BAS.
The participants agreed to hold regular meetings to strengthen cooperation and to act as a joint interest group within the Bulgarian scientific community.
The ERA Chair initiative, funded under the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, aims to attract outstanding international researchers (ERA Chairs) to universities and research organisations in countries with lower research and innovation performance, helping them strengthen scientific excellence, visibility, and institutional capacity.
