IPS-BAS Team Launches Large-Scale National Study on Professional Skills within the ProSkills2Work Project

Within the framework of the project, a team from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPS-BAS) has launched a nationally representative empirical study among students in the final stage of secondary education.

Objectives of the Study
The research focuses on key aspects of young people’s development in Bulgaria:

  • Development of professional skills: How competencies are formed within the school environment.
  • Transition to employment: Students’ attitudes and readiness to enter the labour market.
  • Alignment with business needs: Analysis of the relationship between educational preparation and the actual requirements of employers.

Significance and Application of the Results
The data from the study will have direct application in shaping strategic policies and management decisions in the field of vocational education and training (VET). The aim is to improve the education system at both national and regional levels, ensuring better labour market integration of graduates.

Ethics and Data Protection
The fieldwork is conducted by a highly qualified research team and trained interviewers. The process strictly adheres to ethical standards:

  • Voluntary participation
  • Full anonymity of respondents
  • Guaranteed protection of personal data (GDPR compliance)
