Prof. Rumiana Zheleva

Prof. Rumiana Zheleva holds a PhD in Sociology from the Otto-von-Gerike University in Magdeburg, Germany and a Doctor of Sciences (DSc) from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She has a strong background in research on socio-economic inequalities, sustainable development, regional imbalances, urban health and well-being, entrepreneurship, labour market, skills and human development. She is a leading researcher of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the Institute’s Distinguished Scientist Award for 2024 mainly for her research on sustainable development in the Bulgarian economy and (ESG) standards for corporate sustainability in Bulgaria and the EU, the results of which are published in the book Zheleva, R.
